Abandoned Barn

By Mariah.

One night I was at my aunt's house, and their house used to be a farmhouse and in the very back of their yard was an abandoned barn which no one had ever dared to go in for at least 20-25 years. My cousins and I decided to play truth or dare and they all dared my cousin, Jeremy, and I to spend the night in the barn. So Jeremy and I got everything packed and ready to go because I never turn down a dare. So we were walking up the path to the abandoned barn and we heard faint screaming. We didn't think much of it; we thought it was just one of my cousins trying to scare us. Jeremy said, "I'll go first. You wait here." I said, "But it's pitch black and it's foggy and I can't see a thing". But before I could finish, he was already gone. I waited there for about 15 minutes and could hear footsteps coming up the path. I'm trying to look through the fog and I can hear them but I can't see them. Then I heard Jeremy scream his lungs out. I dropped everything and started running as fast as I could to the barn. I got there and he's not there; nothing. It was deserted. So I was all alone. I leaned up against the barn and something caught my hair. It was a small piece of white paper with red kinda splashed on it and it said, "There's a reason no one comes here, and now you know why. Start running and don't look back. That's one mistake your friend made."
